how to create domain controller in windows server 2019

  1. Install Windows Server 2019 on a computer that will be used as the domain controller.
  2. Log in to the server as an administrator.
  3. Open the Server Manager by clicking on the Server Manager icon on the taskbar or by pressing the Windows key + X and selecting Server Manager.
  4. In the Server Manager, click on the “Add roles and features” option in the Dashboard.
  5. In the Add Roles and Features Wizard, select “Role-based or feature-based installation” and click Next.
  6. Select the server that will be used as the domain controller and click Next.
  7. Select “Active Directory Domain Services” from the list of server roles and click Next.
  8. Review the information in the “Active Directory Domain Services” window and click Next.
  9. Click on the “Install” button to install the Active Directory Domain Services role.
  10. Once the installation is complete, click on the “Promote this server to a domain controller” link in the Server Manager.
  11. In the “Active Directory Domain Services Configuration Wizard”, select “Add a new forest” and enter a root domain name.
  12. Set the forest functional level and domain functional level according to your requirements.
  13. Set the Directory Services Restore Mode (DSRM) password.
  14. Review the information in the “DNS Options” window and click Next.
  15. Configure the NetBIOS domain name and click Next.
  16. Choose the location for the Active Directory database, log files, and SYSVOL folder and click Next.
  17. Review the information in the “Review Options” window and click Next.
  18. Click on the “Install” button to start the domain controller installation process.
  19. Once the installation is complete, click on the “Close” button to exit the Active Directory Domain Services Configuration Wizard.
