How to change your computer’s name in Windows

To change your computer’s name in Windows, follow these steps:

  1. Open the Start menu by clicking on the Windows icon in the lower left corner of the screen.
  2. Click on “Settings”, which is represented by a gear icon.
  3. Click on “System”.
  4. Click on “About”.
  5. Under “Device specifications”, you will see your current computer name. Click on “Rename this PC”.
  6. Type the new name that you want to give your computer.
  7. Click on “Next”.
  8. Windows will now ask you to restart your computer for the changes to take effect. Click on “Restart now” or “Restart later” depending on your preference.
  9. After your computer restarts, the new name will be displayed.

Alternatively, you can also change your computer’s name using the Control Panel:

  1. Open the Start menu.
  2. Click on “Control Panel”.
  3. Click on “System and Security”.
  4. Click on “System”.
  5. Click on “Advanced system settings” in the left-hand pane.
  6. Click on the “Computer Name” tab.
  7. Click on “Change”.

  11. After your computer restarts, the new name will be displayed.
